“THE Sparrow and The Crow”

I remember well the lesson of the Sparrow and the crow. Sometimes as I observe the things happening around me in this rather chaotic world, I remember the story teller in the village of my people. One day he told us about a huge crow that was very boisterous and full of him self. The crow would swoop down from high up in the air teasing the smaller birds and he would take their food. The other birds were afraid of him because he was much bigger then them and he was loud. The crow did not care. He would just get even louder if they approached him about his rude behaviour.

One day he was flying high above the tiny ground sparrow that had found its way to the feeder in the village. Upon seeing the tiny bird, he instantly swooped down and was very surprised that it did not fly away. Why do you not fly away? Asked the crow. The sparrow did not bother to answer and just kept on eating the seed from the feeder. The crow did not like it that it would not answer him so he got even louder and begin speaking again.

Answer me! He called out to the tiny sparrow. Again the little bird just continued to eat away and would not answer the angry crow. The crow became so angry that he took to flight and as he climbed higher and higher up into the sky, he called so loudly that an eagle heard him. Just as the crow began to swoop down toward the sparrow the eagle caught the crow in his talons and it then returned to its nest and fed the crow to its young.

The other birds of the forest soon returned to the feeder and they asked the tiny sparrow why he was not afraid of the crow? The sparrow replied, Sometimes it is better to ignore the one that taunts you for the only power one has is that which we allow them to have over us.
